Front Street Shipyard is always looking for qualified talent to help in our growing yard. 

Composite Technician Supervisor

Performs advance lay-up techniques to include infusion, pre-preg or wet lay-up, cutting, bagging, basic repair, and/or trimming operations. This role must be able to demonstrate an understanding of how work orders, blueprints, and lay-up charts ensure the quality of the product and provide suggestions on improvements as well as coach and mentor other employees in proper procedures. Must also be able to work with all of

the shop tools and equipment used in composite layup and assembly as well as demonstrates the ability to perform in a team environment and exhibit a willingness to do what it takes to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Build composite components using appropriate lay-up techniques
  • Handling, mixing, and applying various resin/catalyst materials
  • Operate a broad variety equipment for cutting, kitting, and assembly of materials to include machines requiring understanding of computer software technology
  • Use hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner in order to shape and form simple and complex components
  • Working knowledge of infusion techniques
  • Prepare composite components for curing process in oven by applying proper vacuum bagging methods and procedures
  • Complete self-verification procedure on work orders and other related/required documents
  • Ensure parts meet all quality standards and guidelines prior to presenting for inspection
  • Perform simple and complex composite repairs when needed
  • Effectively coach and mentor others on the proper composite lay-up process and procedures
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and complies with all safety regulations
  • Must be able to perform math computations, to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
  • May work overtime
  • Comply with good housekeeping, quality and safety procedures
  • Perform other tasks as required by site leadership

 

Composite Technician

Yacht Refinisher

Should have experience with all aspects of AwlGrip and similar products in the marine industry. Applicant should be well organized and work well with others in a major repair/refit environment. This is a full-time, year-round position with a generous benefits package. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Yacht Rigger

Qualified applicants should be proficient in the installation and maintenance of sail handling equipment, and fabrication of standing and running rigging. Necessary skills include splicing, swaging, general rigging, and background in boatyard operations. Experience in seasonal commissioning/decommissioning of vessels from 8' to 150' is required. Applicant should have boatyard experience, be well organized and work well with others in a major repair/refit environment. This is a full-time, year-round position with a generous benefits package. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Marine Electrician

The ideal candidate will be able to perform skilled maintenance repair and installation of electrical devices and systems to meet all relevant codes and requirements. ABYC certified tech would be preferable, but we would consider the right applicant with greater than 5 years marine experience. Applicants must be computer literate with a solid understanding of all general electrical & engineering requirements. The successful candidate must have recent and relevant experience within the marine leisure industry.

Marine Systems Technician

Ideal candidate should possess the necessary skills and work experience, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, performing maintenance and repair of marine engines, marine machinery, and related equipment. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in maintenance and repair of diesel engines and have electrical systems knowledge.  Experience in refrigeration and plumbing systems a plus. ABYC certified tech would be preferable, but we would consider the right applicant with greater than 5 years marine experience.
