Freshwater Stone
Case Study
Freshwater Stone is a leading supplier of granite to both commercial and residential customers. Their team approached Front Street Shipyard with a unique challenge: cutting granite slabs over four inches in thickness into hundreds of individually shaped and sized paving stones.
Traditionally, Freshwater Stone’s design team sketches a design for a backyard or walkway, and then they transfer that design to a cardboard overlay. Stoneworkers and masons use grinders and saws to cut out the shapes of the paver. This is a time-consuming task, particularly when each paver is uniquely shaped.
In using Front Street Shipyard’s waterjet and its sophisticated operating system, the artists’ designs are directly imported into the machine so that an exact cut of the stone is made quickly and accurately. Through the company’s partnership with FSS, Freshwater Stone can now create intricate designs and increase their production capacity, catering to their customers’ specific requirements with precision and efficiency.
We’re proud to provide Freshwater Stone with top-notch granite pieces for these patio pavers, as well as various other applications, including facia panels for house siding.
